IN ODER NOT TO FORGET THE UNIVERSAL VALUE OF CULTURE

European Museum Forum expresses concern about the increase of violence towards Cultural Heritage sites and their visitors. Yesterday attack to the Bardo museum, is just the last one of a long series.

While European Museum Forum conveys its solidarity to the families of the victims, the staff of the museum and to all the Tunisian people, it must be remembered that Cultural Heritage is a universal language for the construction of a peaceful and democratic society, as in the processes of sustainable development and the promotion of cultural diversity.

European Museum Forum, under the patronage of the Council of Europe, make a call on everyone to take active part in the defence of human rights, affirming the universal value of Cultural Heritage for humanity in every situation.

Besides, EMF call on the ICOM Observatory for Illicit traffic to secure that pillaged objects don’t enter the black market for financing war actions.
